2013 Giant Defy Advanced Overview
Giant Defy advanced was designed to meet the dual demands of hard, fast races and long, grueling rides. Its Advanced-grade composite frame balances weight, stiffness and road-smoothing comfort. The OverDrive 2 steerer tube boosts front-end stiffness and precision. The PowerCore bottom bracket turns your power into positive forward motion. Add in the RideSense ANT+ sensor for wireless data transmission, and you have the ultimate package for endurance road riding.
Defy avanced ride faster ,ride farther an endurance road bike that can conquer towering climbs, crush sprints and log big miles
Technologies :
- Ridense
Giant’s all-new chainstay-integrated, wireless data transmitter. The removable transmitter sends wheel-speed and cadence information directly to any ANT+ compatible computer.
- OverDrive 2
As the first manufacturer to bring the tapered headtube to market – with the 2006 Glory mountain bike – Giant knows a thing or two about inventing solutions for improved steering precision. The original OverDrive
technology resulted in groundbreaking stiffness-to-weight ratios, and now Giant is doing it again with an all-new standard: OverDrive 2.
- Compact Road Design
In 1997, when riders on the legendary Spanish pro team ONCE rolled up to the start of a race on a compact geometry Giant bike, the competition didn’t quite know what to think. For decades before that moment, the
design and geometry of road bikes had remained essentially the same. Giant’s new approach was a radical departure, and we called it Compact Road design.
- Advanced Composite
High-performance T-700 raw carbon fiber is used to produce custom composite material in Giant’s own composite factory. Extremely lightweight, stiff and compliant, these handcrafted frames feature the monocoque
construction.

Weight | How much does this bike weigh? It’s a common question, and rightly so. But the truth is, there are no industry standards for claiming bike weights—and this leads to a lot of misinformation. Variances exist based on size, frame material, finish and hardware. And as bikes get lighter, these differences become more critical. At Giant, we believe the only way to truly know the weight of any particular bike is to find out for yourself at your local retailer. |
